Easy Spicy Chicken

This Easy Spicy Chicken recipe is a fast way to get a healthy, delicious meal on the table. Even someone with very little cooking experience can pull it off!

Easy Spicy Chicken

This recipe contains 3 of the Cancer-Fighting Foods which I have previously discussed.

It also contains cayenne pepper, which can:

  • aid in digestion.
  • boost your metabolism.
  • fight migraines.
  • strengthen your immune system.
  • relieve joint pain.

We like to eat this dish with either rice or homemade naan bread, and a side salad.

“Garam masala” is a blend of ground spices common in South Asian cuisines. Feel free to leave it out if you don’t have any, but it definitely adds to the flavor.

Prep Time 10 minutes minutes
Cook Time 1 hour hour
Total Time 1 hour hour 10 minutes minutes
Servings 3 people

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken cut into 8 pieces
  • 1.5 cups plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 lemons juiced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 medium red onion roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1-2 teaspoons garam masala (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper or less for mild spice
  • chopped fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • Put the chicken pieces in a glass baking dish.
  • Put all the remaining ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend until a smooth paste forms.
  • Pour the paste over the chicken and mix well. At this point you can cover the dish and let it marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake at 350 F (180 C) for about an hour. Half way through the baking time, turn the chicken pieces over and use a spoon to scoop the sauce over the chicken.
  • During the last 10 minutes of cooking, remove the foil to brown the chicken pieces slightly.
