The Perfect Green Smoothie

This is THE Perfect Green Smoothie. Refreshing, nourishing, and kid-approved. Even spinach-haters will love this delicious smoothie!

The Perfect Green Smoothie

The first time I tried this smoothie on my kids, I was pretty skeptical that they would even give it a chance. It’s just so….green! So I served it in an opaque cup with a lid, in order to hide the green color. (And yes, I openly admit that I often deceive my children for the greater good 😉.)

But now that they have discovered how delicious it is, they will gladly accept even the greenest of smoothies without hesitation alhamdulillah! You would never guess that this smoothie contains 2 cups of spinach.

Spinach is an amazing powerhouse of nutrition! It can:

  • protect against cancer (especially colon, breast and prostate cancers).
  • strengthen your immune system with high levels of vitamins A & C.
  • help stabilize blood sugar levels.
  • preserve the health of the skin and eyes.
  • keep your bones healthy with high levels of vitamin K.
  • provide a high amount of magnesium. Magnesium deficiency is associated with sleep problems, anxiety and depression, muscle cramps, headaches, high blood pressure, hormonal problems, and an increased risk for diabetes.
  • fight signs of aging.

Start your day off the smart way with this nourishing and delicious smoothie!

The Perfect Green Smoothie

Prep Time 5 minutes minutes
Total Time 5 minutes minutes
Servings 2 people

Ingredients

  • 2 cups packed spinach preferably steamed
  • 1 cup liquid of choice water, milk, laban, coconut or almond milk, coconut water
  • 1 banana (I like to use a frozen banana)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple, cut into chunks (don't use pineapple if your base liquid is milk, it gives the smoothie a weird taste, add extra strawberry or banana instead)
  • 1 small cucumber, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 apple seeded and cut into chunks
  • honey, to taste optional

Instructions

  • Add the spinach and liquid of choice to a blender and blend on high until large pieces of spinach are no longer visible.
  • Add all remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
  • Serve immediately. Enjoy!

It would depend on the particular type and brand. And yes they can be added to smoothies. I often add spirulina or chlorella to our smoothies.
