Welcome to Healthy Challenge: Week 3!
This week is all about making new friends…probiotic friends, that is!
Humans are made up of about 30 trillion cells. But did you know that we carry more than 30 trillion bacteria in our mouths, intestines, skin, and hair?
So you could say that we are actually more bacteria than human!
But wait! Before you rush for the hand sanitizer, realize that the vast majority of these bacteria are actually friendly and play an extremely important role in our health and well-being.
From fighting off harmful bacteria, to teaching our immune system how to work, to regulating how much fat we burn- we literally couldn’t live without our population of friendly bacteria!
For this week’s challenge, I’d like you to:
- Learn more about the friendly bacteria that is so crucially important to your health, by reading all about those little guys here: Our Bacterial Friends
- Think about how you can include more probiotics in your diet, whether through food sources or supplements.
- Watch this short video about the importance of probiotics:
Note: Always remember to take it slowly when you start a new source of probiotics. This will give your body time to adjust.
Feel free to leave comments or questions below! Have a great week!
